The 7 chakras and their meanings
At the top of the head sits the crown chakra and glows white. However, it can also be golden and in many places the crown chakra will also appear as deep purple. This chakra is the gateway to the universe and the universal energy. (Now it's getting very spiritual and it's getting too much, so just skip it). This is our overall consciousness is to be found. We are now in the world of concepts - concepts such as religion, spirituality, ecstasy, bliss. That is perhaps what Immanuel Kant would call the sublime. This is where we have to surrender to things we do not fully understand, but which we are still aware of. Here everything goes up into a higher entity and two things that might seem to be opposites show their true connection to each other. When this chakra is in balance you will really feel connected to the universe itself. You will understand that there is more at stake than you might be able to rationalize out of. You may even be able to access the universal and collective consciousness. Or maybe you just know how to appreciate the diversity of the world and the many mysteries of life. If this chakra is out of balance, the gate to the universe will appear closed and you will not be receptive to spiritual inputs. An overactive crown chakra, on the other hand, can result in you renouncing the meaning of the body and living only in your head - You are, so to speak, 'over-spiritual' and may not be able to accommodate those who have not seen the light.et”.
Stones associated with the crown chakra could be: Selenite, diamond, rock crystal, amethyst, white agate, white moonstone, white jade, and pearl.
The third eye /Ajna
There are divided opinions about the location of the indigo blue light. Some say it sits in the middle of the forehead or between the eyebrows, others say that it shines inside the middle of your head - that is, inside the middle of your brain. But whether one is for one explanation or the other, one must close one's eyes and concentrate if one is to see it. One has to concentrate on letting go and just receiving or perceiving. Ajna is the center of the self - that is, the self that differs from everything else in the world. This is where your wisdom and reflection sit. If there is balance in this chakra, you will undoubtedly have a good intuition and a clear vision for and insight into who you are. You will have access to inspiration and creative energies that may come from the chakras above (above the crown chakra are a number of other chakras that I will not go into now). You will thus be able to direct these energies further down through your neck chakra. You will be able to see things from different perspectives and have a good imagination. If the chakra is out of balance, you may find it difficult to look beyond your own situation and thereby see solutions rather than limitations. Your intuition will be weakened and you will certainly not be able to see the idea of reading these descriptions of the chakras at all. Your spiritual side will be closed land and you will not be able to see the potential in approaching the world with an open mind. You may also have difficulty visualizing your vision for yourself.elv.
Stones associated with Ajna could be: African turquoise, amethyst, moonstone, fluorite, falcon's eye, sodalite, lepidolite, quartz, phosphosiderite, angelite.
In the middle of the neck sits the neck chakra and glows blue. This chakra has to do with communication, articulation and creativity. When the energy (prana) flows freely through your neck chakra and builds a bridge between your head and your body, exciting things can happen. You will find that your words flow freely and that you can quickly and easily articulate your ideas and can easily explain to other people your ambitions or visions. You will have a good sense of timing and you will put the truth first. If, on the other hand, your neck chakra is out of balance, it can result in poor timing or a failure in your ability to communicate clearly and distinctly. You risk being misunderstood, making incoherent speech flow, or having difficulty listening to others. It can make it difficult for you to be creative and to articulate your values and your dreams - also towards yourself.
Stones associated with the neck chakra could be: aquamarine, lapis lazuli, apatite, blue aventurine, sodalite, labradorite, dumortierite, and amazonite.
Right in the middle of the chest a green light shines. If the energy is very strong it can switch to pink. This is the heart chakra or Anahata. Here love resides. The love for both yourself and others - for the whole universe. The Heart Chakra is the center of forgiveness, compassion, transformation, processing of grief, awareness, and acceptance. If this chakra is in balance you will experience a great and open love for the universe, be aware of all the good things in your life and be grateful for your situation. If the chakra is out of balance, on the one hand you may have difficulty in loving and in being forgiving or processing grief. On the other hand, you may tend to be clingy or hypersensitive.
Stones associated with Anahata could be: Rose quartz, cherry quartz, jade, pink opal, green calcite, green aventurine, emerald, malachite, rhodonite, rhodochrosite.
Solar Plexus / Manipura
In the upper part of the abdomen, just at the root of the sternum, a yellow light shines. It is the Solar Plexus chakra and it has to do with personal strength, responsibility, and self-discipline. This is your power field and if it is in balance there are no limits to what you can achieve. It is only your own imagination that sets the limits. You will feel confident, feel that you take responsibility and have good judgment, feel that you know what you stand for and that you are independent. If the chakra is out of balance, it can mean both powerlessness or that you are too dominant. That you either do not trust yourself enough or that you are over confident and thus abuse your strength and manipulate others. All of this will eventually lead you further away from your goals.
Stones associated with the Solar Plexus chakra could be: Citrine, yellow calcite, yellow jasper, yellow tourmaline, tiger eye.
Right between your navel and your genitals, the orange light shines. This is the sacred (sacred) or Svadhisthana (your own place) chakra and it has to do with your sexuality, fertility and creativity. If this chakra is in balance, you should be very good at the intimate and sexual level. It will also mean that you are ready for change, feel confident and are in good contact with other people (also in a non-sexual way).
When prana (energy) passes freely through the sacral chakra you will experience great pleasure from and connection to your sexual, social and creative sides. If the chakra is out of balance, you can either have too much or too little enjoyment and creativity in your life. It can also manifest itself in the fact that you are insecure or emotionally paralyzed. It can be difficult to deal with change and you feel disconnected from other people.
Stones that are connected to the sacral chakra could be: Orange carnelian, orange calcite, citrine, orange aventurine.
Rod / Muladhara
Imagine the red light shining where your spine becomes your tailbone. At the very bottom of your body when you sit in the tailoring position or lotus.
It's your root chakra and it has to do with grounding and trust. If this chakra is in balance and prana (energy) can flow freely through it, then you are grounded, calm, confident and have your basic needs met. If it is out of balance, you may have difficulty standing still, be flighty, have an unhealthy distrust of your surroundings or lack basic necessities such as food, sleep or a roof over your head.
Stones associated with the root chakra could be: Smoke quartz, black agate, ruby, red jasper, blood stone, black tourmaline, red carnelian.
